The Government Project Health and Safety Plan (GPHSP) is a compliance measure required by private contractors to enable them to work with government contracts. This type of plan is created to identify all possible exposures to hazards, which their workers (employees and subcontractors) have the potential to encounter on a daily working basis. The GPHSP will address the safety issues pertinent to specific contract sites and the methods that the private contractor will utilize to ensure a safe working environment such as:

  • Identification of managerial hierarchy and responsibilities
  • Preparation for work permits
  • Private contractor compliance
  • Hazard corrections/job hazard analysis forms
  • Training and instruction
  • Personal protection devices and equipment
  • Emergency evacuation and response
