Businesses whose industrial activities are associated with storm water run-off may be required to apply for coverage under the State’s General Industrial Storm Water Permit ("General Permit"). This also includes facilities where stored materials or equipment come in contact with storm water. The regulations governed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), require that storm water associated with industrial activity that discharges either directly to surface waters or indirectly through municipal separate storm sewers must be regulated by National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).

The preparation of a SWPPP is governed by your industry’s Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. There are two separate categories of industries that must comply:

• Conditional Industries
